Donโt tell me where your priorities are. Show me where you spend your money and Iโll tell you what they are.

Everyone is Getting Rich…
Lately, it seems like we have been all inundated with Tesla, Bitcoin and DOGECoin Millionaires. I’m frequently bombarded with questions on Crypto (digital currency) or NFTs (non fungible tokens) which I don’t own.
The sad part, the questions come from a place of desperation. The goal is to cut corners like it’s Mario Kart and somehow emerge ahead of the pack. Too often people are taking illegal risks such as stealing PPP loan money, scamming unemployment, or doing some kind of sou-sou.
Taking shortcuts, to somehow attain the perfect home with enough space to entertain and constant great lighting for filterable pictures of every mundane moment. And, all for what? In the end, people are growing desperate for a win. All to say, they made it.
I’m an advocate of seeing life differently. It’s perfectly OK to redefine your own true values.
A New Wave of Fulfillment
What does โFinancial Successโ mean in 2021? Financial success means very different things to different people. To some, becoming financially success is merely getting a grasp on credit card debt through the #debtfree journey, while for others, it’s all about the path to becoming financially independent or work optional.
Neither is wrong but neither are particularly right. Many seek credit card debt payoff as the rational approach to being free but for some reason, carry high mortgage debt and expensive all cash cars. Yeah that sounds great but where is the long term wealth and on top of that you are still income dependent.
It is damn near “Debt Free of Die Trying” like Marcus Garrett‘s book.
The FIRE Movement which is quite frankly based on affluence or high salaries, state that you should be work optional but they are also financial dependent on the market and society by that metric to keep others working while they technically do a career shift.
The truth is that wealth and how you use money is what you make of it. It’s neither good nor bad just another form of living your life. The question ends up being more of what do you find fulfilling as your life’s work. What kinda legacy will you leave? Or are you merely contented with consuming all that you can from society before going to the great beyond?

Find perspective.
Beyond traveling, we need to challenge ourselves to reading more in order to find deeper perspective of how people live and function. I still remember the Good Earth and the Raisin in the Sun. There is something to be said about broadening our horizon.
I would recommend listening to podcasts as well, however nowadays we often hate the messenger so much that it’s best to just read.
