Estate planning is all about protecting your loved ones and yet only 34 percent of Americans have a plan.

The global pandemic of 2020 hit us with a wave of change. For many, it was a brush with our own mortality. For others, it was a dash of uncomfortable truth. We will all perish one day. COVID-19-related death soared to over 1 Million. Although it’s not something most people would like to discuss, it is becoming more important for us to plan to Grieve in Peace.

The Financial Griot (TFG) podcast is back with another poignant episode as we enter into a new phase of Baby Boomer retirement, high inflation, and a seemingly unavoidable global recession. Alainta and our guest Jen Gumbel ( Probate & Estate Planning Attorney) discuss planning for this side of Heaven as they say.

We also talk about the afterlife, but not in the literal sense.

Jen walks us through the nuances of estate planning and probate. Learn about the difference between a Will and Trust. As well as everything in between. The goal is for you and your loved ones to have effective estate planning that builds on the legacy and generational wealth. Just so you know, adults of any age or asset level can benefit from having a written plan for their forever wishes. Especially if you are caring for someone or a pet, this is where and when you need to take action.

Why I started Organized (after)Life

Jen started Organized (after)Life to change how people think about estate planning and legacy.

Breaking down the nuances of estate planning and probate. Learn the difference between a Will and Trust. The goal is to equip your future.

To help you do the organization necessary to reduce the to-do list you’ll leave for the people who will grieve you and to help you understand that everyone is capable of leaving a good legacy.

She shares the tools and information that all of us in “death law” wish every client knew coming in. She also demonstrates to people when and why working with an attorney is important.

It’s her way of swiping at death. “And doubling down on life.”

Legacy and Estate Planning is a Silent Conversation between Three generations

About Us:

The Financial Griot is a play on two words (Finance + Griot) that hold significance in closing the wealth gap while embracing our differences. We tell the stories that others don’t or are too scared to tackle. Some of those stories are about growth, opportunity, and embracing changes which include estate planning. Beyond that, we love to talk about finances, goals, and aspirations since money isn’t everything.

Specifically, we want you to become Financially literate by incorporating actionable steps and ultimately building generational wealth. You can use that wealth to foster a myriad of opportunities.

its scary out here financially

Can you imagine being a Millionaire in 20 years or less? Yeah, it’s possible. 80% of millionaires are the first generation. That means they didn’t come from wealth. On this journey, you will have to do more with money than just spend it.

The first phase of your financial journey starts in the mind. Your relationship with money can either help you build wealth or leave you in long-term debt.

The next segment is Financial stability which is followed by the wealth accumulation phase. Gaining control of your money makes life less scary.

Once you get into the full swing of things, this is where asset protection comes into place. You wouldn’t want half of your money going to the court system.

This is why estate planning is so critical to your financial plan. Create the plan and let it work for you. This way you move from the 67 percent of Americans with no savings or estate plan. Consequently, we don’t have nine lives; it’s up to us to plan and live this one accordingly.
