Love and Dating just got harder on the Metaverse

In this episode notes (aka another rant), the Financial Griot crew discusses love and money while listening to social media highlights.

Alainta, Lawrence and Lovely gives their take on society at large on the lies and mirages that people cast on social media.

Additionally, they drop tips and thoughts on how you can become more confident in your inner voice so that you don’t end up being a victim of scams and scammers.

Unfortunately, there are people creating false personas online.

Avoid these undate-able characters:

  1. The daring political rebel – they are well spoken super activist who win you over with their caring for others. Black and white edgy photos and hair that doesn’t open up to having a job.
  2. The pathological liars – usually, they are also selling the tales of great travels with no photos and entrepreneurship. They love to talk so catch them on Clubhouse or Twitter spaces.
  3. And, the attention whores – large social media presence and constant reels, however they are vapid and empty. They will drain your wallet and leave you in debt.
  4. Bonus. Click to read others you shouldn’t date and why and skip to the ice cream or wine (on us).

The Dangers of Dating on Social Media and The Rise of the Romance Scammers

Netflix released two “documentaries” in February. Like twisting a dagger into the hearts of singles, Tinder Swindler and Inventing Anna, racking in views. However, do we ever stop to consider why we treat the victims so poorly?

Two con artists had the same plan (picture below).

The goal is to gain the trust of others and manipulate them into giving them their life savings. The irony is that we are all victims of these scammers in our every day life. They merely steal our time and our trust in each other.

Shimon Hayuta aka the Tinder Swindler allegedly met women on Tinder before swindling them for millions of dollars after cat-fishing them into believing his name was “Simon Leviev,” the son of Israeli diamond tycoon Lev Leviev.

He allegedly conned women into handing over cash and credit cards by telling them that his life was in danger. Hayut spent five months of a 15-month sentence in an Israeli prison in 2019.

Yeah, it’s as bad as it sounds. It’s Israel, they don’t play.

Two Infamous Romantics

Beyond Love and Dating, we talk about other issues:

The Financial Griot is a play on two words (Finance + Griot) that hold significance in closing the wealth gap while embracing our differences.

The TFG crew loves to talk about life, dating and personal finances. These are real stories about growth, opportunity and changes. Specifically, we help people become Financially literate by incorporating actionable steps. While we share all the secrets to building generational wealth, it’s going to be up to you to pivot.

Can you imagine being a Millionaire in 20 years or less? Yeah it’s possible. 80% of millionaires are first generation. That means they didn’t come from wealth.

Can marriages last in modern times? Yes, they can and yes you can too.

So there you have it, The Financial Griot or TFG for short. The hosts were able to amass over $2.5 Million in wealth in about 9 years and are on track to retire early. The dating side is hit or miss but we are working on the unmarried ones.
