Working from Home Much?
Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together.

The Average American Family is Heading for Financial Ruin
Even as far back as 13 years ago, Senator Elizabeth Warren made the circuit sharing the findings in her book about how over-leveraged the middle class has become. From parking lot home with 4 cars, obviously for each member of the family, to Over stuffed closets. I thought the Pandemic would have changed people.
Unfortunately, the financial apocalypse of 2020 was a just another reason to ride out into Valhalla with a chorus of gas guzzling machines.
#WeOutside – quoted the hapless Gen-z person in pure defiance of whatever variant of COVID is out now. The real challenge will be to see who has enough wealth and money to be outside for the next 5 years. This outside will increase spending by at least 30%.
It would be prudent to plan for Fall 2021 as soon as possible. My wife and I added at least $500 in the clothing department since #WeGainedWeight movement hit us too.
Back to Work and Back to Packed Calendars
As of June 2021, CNBC Make It spoke with experts in order to guess what a possible return to office would look like.
There are thoughts of Hybrid work, Alternating days, reoccurring vaccinations, Poly work, labor shortage, increase in Burnout and likely a few health spikes. Unfortunately some jobs aren’t coming back and by proxy, a lot of auxiliary jobs were cut. Think of the window cleaners or the local coffee shot in downtown.
Society has changed and we will likely see a rise in mental health issues for it. If we were to be honest, governments should implement at least 2 mental health checks for free at hospitals going into 2022.
Poly work?
Poly-working is a holistic, multi-pronged approach to work that takes into account four main factors: Leadership and customer appetite for change, and Employee lifestyle and preferences. See Poly-Working: What Businesses Need To Know For Effective Working In 2021, Forbes.
So what’s Hybrid work
High-profile companies will be using a hybrid work model, where workers spend time working both from the office and from home. To recruit, keep, and retain talents, most business leaders believe this is the new model. See ‘There is no going back to the status quo’: what the return to the office will look like this fall, CNBC.
No Work At All?
D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has ordered all city government workers to return to the office next week. The city has also updated its mask policy for those inside D.C. government buildings. See DC government workers headed back to the office on Monday, FOX5.
However, US workers are quitting their jobs, adding to the struggle companies face during this round of economic recovery. This new age of resignations and retirement saw an increase of 2.7%, according to the Labor Department, a jump from 1.6% a year earlier to the highest level since at least 2000.
Where do we go from here?
While I can’t force people to change their behavior, I can warn you that going back to 2019 is not the way forward. There is a lot to do and accomplish. The lessons learned in 2020 and 2021 are important. Hold on to them to pursue something better.
As it stands, most people are merely rushing back into a burning building.
