Excuse Me, Since You are a Black Millionaire and All!

Time to celebrate the first millionaire status. As of 2022, there were 22.7 million millionaires in the United States. This makes up 6.7% of the country’s population. And we now know two of them.

The TFG crew is BACK! Well 2/3 of us. LOL, Lawrence and Alainta are catching up on life and celebrating a major milestone for Doreen’s and Lawrence’s net worth. From being broke and living paycheck to paycheck to beating the odds. What a long but surprisingly short journey to the top.

So what was the biggest change along the way? And where to next?

Talking about the Millionaire Experience

Social media portrays wealth as spending. Buying this. Dressing like that. And even pouring full bottles of alcohol in clubs as a contest of who can frivolously blow $5,000 the quickest. As of 2023, there are nearly 2 million Black millionaires in the United States. This represents 8.8% of the total US population.

It’s a rare sight. However, what we are used to seeing are the luxury lifestyle pimps.

Turns out, millionaire status isn’t about how much you have in your checking account. It’s all about how much can you accumulate on the journey. The goal isn’t to hoard wealth instead you want to learn how to use your time and effort to generate the most opportunities.

These opportunities can be experiences for you such as travel, or even enriching activities that develop soft or technical skills. Some of those opportunities can be simply to do nothing at all. The point of money isn’t just to spend it on things so that you can hope others see you differently. Your time would be better spent learning to be happy and content.

You would be richer for it.

What Good is Money if You can’t Improve the World

Recently, Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour is slated to bring in over $4 billion in revenue. This far exceeds the Beyonce Rennaissance Tour which generated nearly $600 million. Either way, both demonstrate that people don’t lack money. They are merely picking and choosing what’s valuable to them in the short run. Becoming wealthy is the decision to live for the long run.

To make matters worse, turns out, putting an end to global hunger is as simple as giving up ice cream. The global ice cream industry is slated to take in nearly $144 billion in revenue for 2023. The cost to end world hunger? $40 billion per year.

We could all do so much more with our money. Hitting +$1 Million in net worth, for Doreen and Lawrence was just an excercise to see what’s possible. Now they are interested in what’s next.

The next goals are to travel and see more of the world. Secondly, they want to figure out a way to invest and create passive income of at least $10,000 per year to donate to the causes that they want. Over the next 15 years before early retirement, they want to donate as much as $250,000. In retirement, they are planning to do way more.

Life is hard enough.

It’s time to make it easier for someone. They will get some social media hate for documenting the journey but it worth it. We need to live in a world where people celebrate good just as much as spending money on luxuries.
