Where Can We Place the Blame
We blame our bosses, the economy, our politicians, other people,, or we write ourselves off as failures or our goals as impossible. When really only one thing is at fault: our attitude and approach.

I’ve been there
I like to start with something that is known and familiar. I’m not speaking from inexperience but with the profound experience only afforded by poverty and the grim faces that love ones make when hitting the wall.
When things are going bad, they only seem to get worst doing the Financial heavy lifting. Back in the day, I watched my Aunt violently ignore creditors vs confronting that she has a credit problem. I used to see how her eye ruminated on the idea that she wouldn’t have failed if it was for the men she chose in her life, the schools she attended, the trauma she felt, the people who let her down, and even her kids.
I learned early that when nothing is our fault, there is nowhere to go. How do you scale that. You may as well quit and rest there. However, when we realize the value in our own choices; then, the outcomes is ours alone. We are all human and it’s OK to fail spectacularly as long as we don’t seek to remain the failure forever.
Do the Work
Some are waiting for home prices to drop on the perfect 4/3 bath with open concept. Others are waiting on student loan forgiveness. Unfortunately, they will wait for ever to find that it isn’t the home or student loans that will make you happy. It goes deeper than that.
You have to find a wealth of purpose and fulfillment. You have to do the work.
The obstacle in the path becomes the path. Never forget, within every obstacle is an opportunity to improve our condition.
The Obstacle Is The Way, Ryan Holiday, Pg. 7
The only solution worth pursuing is the one that requires that you get up for yourself. Like working out, it comes down to doing the daily routine that allows you to change. Strive for your efforts to be measurable, and avoid the path of least resistant, less you want this hard labor to last forever with no fundamental changes.
Seek to be uncomfortable in an effort to force your brain to develop discipline, memory retention and problem solving. It’s important to note that this isn’t just sweat equity, this is a deeper dive into yourself.

Obstacles are not only to be expected but embraced. Embraced? Yes, because these obstacles are actually opportunities to test ourselves, to try new things, and, ultimately, to triumph. The obstacle is the way.

How to Learn to Set Obstacles Upside Down
A formula for success which has been used for centuries, by emperors, military commanders, athletes, presidents and entrepreneurs, the quiet grace and forbearance espoused by the ancient Stoics may seem at odds with todayโs brash, dog-eat-dog world.
Two Things You Can Do To Stop Ruminating
The term ruminate means to run a thought over and over in your mind. This is the figurative definition. The literal definition refers to cows regurgitating their food to chew it over and over. Rumination is not a diagnosis all to itself, we see it in depression and anxiety.
Rumination causes people to get stuck in their thoughts and even feel stuck in the negativity of their condition. Typical negative depressive ruminations may be things like: why do I always get the short end of the stick? Why canโt I be happy like everyone else? What do you do about this? Two things:
- One is to spend more time being mindful.
- The second thing you can do is develop an if/then action plan.
