As a Certified Fraud Examiner, I can tell you that the easiest target for fraud are likely to be financially insecure, desperate for a win, financially illiterate, and morally dubious.
In essence, most scammers attract themselves. That’s why they are so good at it. They know the emotional cues and the primers. The goal is to get into a rhythm that makes you question your own authority in life then afford that same authority back to you at a premium.
For example. Say yes! Do you have feel like you don’t have control over your life?
What if I told you that I could give you back control over your life with these easy steps? Would you be interested in that?
Hence, a successful buy in. If your back is against the wall or you’ve been watching people live their lives on social media; it’s likely that you are beginning to resent your own life and thus your spirit of financial discernment starts to erode.
How Do You Regain Financial Discernment?
Start with this simple checklist.
- Know how susceptible you are. It’s that’s simple. If you are in a dark space. You are frustrated with yourself, family, significant other or your job; you are likely depleted and not ready to face the next enemy. Recharge and take time to reevaluate yourself. During that time, just say NO to opportunities and let it rest a bit. Tell them you will follow up later.
- If you are contacted out of the blue by an old friend. They likely want to meet you to catch up over coffee. Or if they insist on doing a zoom meeting for some odd reason. Just save your time and energy to keep you mental resistance up.
- Anyone or any opportunity that requires you to send money upfront or buy inventory is a bad idea. You are merely workign for them. This is far from being your own CEO or whatever they promised.
- Off course you make you own hours. Common sense goes a long way. We all have 24 hrs. You would have had to do something anyways. It’s just word play before they tap your depleted pockets.
- When they say everyone is making money, ask for their tax return for the current and prior year. You need to see proof of their claim. Besides real rich people aren’t going around begging people to invest in an idea that is generating them thousandths per week.
In the end, it’s your time and money. You deserve to keep it and use it for your benefit, not to waste it on a dead end goal. I recommend Fin-literature instead. It’s better to feed the brain.
