The Problem with Giving Gifts
Every time we talk it uncovers a new question.
Dr. Therese Rosenblatt, Psychologist found that Gift giving can be used unintentionally to create pressure and competition between givers and receivers. Additionally, it can be extremely stressful to give a gift and God forbid, it’s not a good one.
It ends up being a game of escalation of spending in which each revolution, only leads to more spending. What’s truly unfortunate is that the price seldom matters. Personally, I opt for giving meaningful, long lasting gifts.
Far from simply phoning in the gift, try talking to the recipient for a while to gleam what’s really missing. Most of the time, it’s merely meaningful interaction with no dollar value at all.
Why we choose to be Present vs Being Silent:
