So love does cost a thing, just a little over $24 billion to be precise. In our first show notes for episode 35: “The Power of Attraction and Modern Dating Tips), we covered dating tips specific for the COVID environment.

However, as of March 2022, we are back at it again. The world is opening up and all the social media gender battles have worn down our resolves. So the Financial Griot team wanted to re-release a few new tips on modern day dating beyond COVID.

Bonus – On behalf of the ladies, Alainta and Lovely appreciate the love while Lawrence is trying to find out how much more will it take to buy a woman’s love in 2022.

Inflation is hitting our pockets.

If your goal is to get to the alter, you have to pay the tolls, fines, express fees, gas and all the sanctions.

If you are serious about dating, expect to fork over at least $80-$100 per date. The Pandemic hasn’t been merciful on prices.

All this leg work just to snoop around Alainta’s dating life.

How to get to the alter?

I guess the real question that singles want to know off bat

How safe is intimacy with a partner during the COVID-19 pandemic?

(Paranoid dating) Checklist:

  • If both of you are healthy and feeling well,
  • are practicing social distancing
  • got vaccinated and have all the booster like a Bingo card,
  • and have had no known exposure to anyone with COVID-19…

Well touching, hugging, kissing, and sex are more likely to be safe. Similarly, sharing a bed with a partner who is healthy should not be an issue unless…

Be aware, the CDC reports that some people may have the virus and not yet have symptoms during the early part of the incubation period (pre-symptomatic). Additionally, some people never develop obvious symptoms of COVID-19 (asymptomatic).

In either case, it’s possible that the virus might spread through physical contact i.e. Salsa dancing, Bachata and Kompa and intimacy.

Intimacy is code for sex stuff!

Dating and Mating Post Masks(from Pew Research Center)?

Nearly half of US adults say dating has gotten harder for most people in the last 10 years. A majority of women say that they’ve experienced harassing behavior and general disinterest. Suffice to say with the pandemic in full swing, dating has been difficult.

And, people globally aren’t having as much sex anymore. Ultimately, single men and women are finding it hard to connect and date. On top of that, Single people pay more for housing, social life, and taxes — and they get paid less.

The pandemic also fueled the rise of intentional dating or not at all. At least for no, the casual hook up game of 2019 is out of the window. Most people value their safety above all.

More to love than Valentine’s day Flowers. Here’s some tips of Modern Dating (online) from the ModernMan.com:

  1. Don’t Talk About Dating Profiles
  2. Never Ghost
  3. Be Authentic
  4. Check Your Baggage
  5. Don’t Go On Secluded Areas On Your First Date
  6. And check out A Man’s Guide to Dating.

How has the pandemic changed dating? Here are 7 tips from Washington Post:

  1. Virtual dates are still a thing – and try to present your best self. Think high energy vs rolling out the bed. Avoid being confrontational, this is not a job nor your coworker.
  2. Be upfront with your date and slow down – as stated before people are more intentional with their bodies now.
  3. Find a way to talk about your values – dating is still a game of expressing what you bring into a relationship. If you are lacking, work on your strengths and dabble in the self work on your weaknesses.
  4. Keep the work talk to a minimum – most people aren’t dating you to network for future job opportunities.
  5. Be curious about your date – probe and find out who they really are.
  6. Go ahead and be vulnerable on a first date – go somewhere public and ease off the social media parade.
  7. Follow up – sometimes it won’t work out, you can still be cordial.
Biden in the SOTU 2022 said “Go Out with No Mask and Date” but I’m paraphrasing. I think he really said go back to work.

The Financial Griot is a play on two words (Finance + Griot) that hold significance in closing the racial wealth as well as the marriage gap.

Merriam-Webster defines a Griot as a West African historian, storyteller, praise singer, poet, or musician. The griot is a repository of oral tradition and is often seen as a leader due to their position as an advisor to royal personages. As a result of the former of these two functions, they are sometimes called a bard.

As such, we tell the stories that others don’t. Stories that we should share for growth, opportunity and understanding. Beyond that we talk about fostering better relationship, love, dating and more. Specifically, how to become Financially literate, incorporating actionable steps and ultimately building generational wealth.

So there you have it, The Financial Griot or TFG for short. You will be in for a treat. The hosts were able to amass over $2 Million in wealth in about 8 years and are on track to retire early. If you want the secrets; we will gladly share them since opportunity is abundant and Win-Win.
