The Best Path Forward
If 80 Percent of Success Is Showing Up Then 20 Percent Is Following up. The excuses are many, but the solution is surprisingly simple.

The Prefabricated Solution
We’ve all seen it especially on social media. You draft what you think would be a middle of the road statement however, by mid day, complications arise. There are often three triggers: the messenger, the beginning of the message, and the reader’s own mind. It never fails that someone automatically warps the information and responds.
Why? Simply because they began with the dialogue with their final response. As such, the response was prefabricated and in bad faith. As human being trapped in the 24hr news cycle, it’s almost impossible to know when the last stream of consciousness ended and when the next one begins.
By high noon, it’s not a dialogue at all. Just a battle to the death, settled as Yasuke (Netflix Anime ref.) would say “the Old way.”
Unfortunately, we have come to a time in history where the ends justify the means vs understanding and reasoning a new alternative. Basically, I see a lack of people showing up intellectually vs emotionally. This axe that we carry from conversation to conversation is toxic and ultimately fatal. It messes up the way we interact with the world, and leaves us with an inability to intake new perspectives. Our goals should be the same. Be Better, learn new information in order to pivot the way we apply ourselves.
As such, most are merely trying to enslave the next person to their own imbalanced will. To that, it’s best to move away from prejudice, precognition and the prefabricate ideas.
Seeking to be Imperfect
How do you start rebalancing your mindset? By simply, letting go. It’s not enough to jump at someone else. Learn to listen without the intent to reply. Pause before you respond. Or better yet, clear your own bias and reread the statement in order to approach the conversation from a different point of view.
Let go on the concept of being right or go beyond that, realize there is no right or wrong. There is no divine retribution from someone sharing their lived experience or opinions. Maybe both can exist simultaneously – Less the conversation is vile or degenerate to the point that 99% would disagree from the onset. Remember in life, we are seeking to undo our own cognitive dissonance.
Embrace that we are all on the long road of imperfection and only through the dialogue may we all learn from one another. This is the 80% solution to all the problems in the world.
The rest is all about us showing up.
Additionally, Try these 5 ways to rebalance:
- Get adequate Rest – to lay to rest grievances and to seek resolution from our own narratives.
- Disconnect for a week from news – to allow the mind the opportunity to process without added opinion piece.
- Start Eating Right Again – to change the imbalances from within.
- Take time to count your blessings; 10 is more than enough.
- Seek to change one of your own belief by acknowledging that you might be missing crucial pieces that the other person might be offering in that exact moment.
The goal is to create the third mind in which both people are coming in with equal pieces. The benefit is that not everyone is an enemy thus they may be your ally.
